Description
Need additional traffic control signage, road is very crowded and traffic frequently exceeds posted speed. Traffic calming devices and center lane control are needed. Perhaps an Island to limit traffic capacity in multiple turn lane.

Per Ms. Banigan with Traffic Engineering - "There are sufficient speed limit signs, and we striped the road years ago with a center left turn lane. I don’t know what he/she means when wanting an island to limit capacity in multi lanes."
If you can be more specific with your request, I will direct it to Ms. Banigan.
Thank you.

Westbound traffic frequently enters multiuser lane well before the curve on Box Hill South Parkway, some individuals also use multiturn lane to pass speed abiding traffic, heading west.
The road was better suited to handle the volume of traffic before the multiple use lane was added because it enforced a waiting in line system.
The signage also confuses some users who believe the multi turn lane can not be used by eastbound for lefts on Hidden Ridge Terrace a private road. Recently a driver attempted a left turn from the EB traffic lane to enter HRT and was rear ended when stopped by a non aware driver. 30 MPH is a rare observation for speed as traffic has been paced at 40+. Speed reduction devices either grooves or strips are needed.

To whom it May Concern:
In response to your email regarding Box Hill South Parkway, the center left turn lane was added to reduce lane widths and provide a safe lane to make left turns, which was a concern for residents of Hidden Ridge Terrace. The center turn lane is signed as a shared left turn lane that anyone making a left turn should use, not make a turn from the through lane. If motorists are using the center turn lane as a passing lane, you should contact the Sheriff’s Office for enforcement as the lane is for left turns only. By copy of this email, I am requesting the Sheriff’s Office to increase patrols in the area to prevent/deter misuse of the center left turn lane.
