It's been over 8 mos now since this issue was reported. The ditch is still clogged (and sometimes freezes now because of low temperatures).....causing a further hazard to children who tend to walk along the edges and/or surface. If this issue was assigned to Eric Etheridge, he has not taken timely action
in the past to resolve . I would rather not have to contact the current PW Director (Mr. Mark Johnson) directly for assistance .

When the work crew came by this summer, all they did was cut overhanging branches and dragged them to the side of the ditch. They didn’t even properly remove the branches and now after each significant rain or storm event, these branches/limbs just slide back in the ditch causing poor drainage and/or clogging. The major reason this ditch clogs often is because PW has never addressed the problem where there is a change in elevation of the ditch along with a narrow curve and large stones that make it extremely easy for debris to get caught. Cutting branches off doesn’t solve the problem, it’ll just mask/delay it from occurring a week later. With the OT you’ve paid for those crews to come out, PW could have resolved the problem many times over now. Residents are frustrated and have cleaned it out themselves numerous times (incl this past weekend) due to a slow response. You wonder why stories like this make it to the news. Heaven forbid someone catches West Nile virus because the City refuses to acknowledge the real problem. Sorry for the harsh words but it’s the truth. I don’t think your Director would be happy if he knew about the situation and how long it has lingered.
