Description
GMT Bus Shelter on Hinesburg Road by Shopping Plaza has no operating lighting.
I've contacted GMT several times about this. I've been told it will be taken care of but nothing has been done yet.
This is a very dangerous situation. There are no street lights in this location to make up for the missing bus shelter lighting.
The shelter is used as a place to drink alcohol, smoke, loiter, litter and ??? It's too dark to be used safely by bus riders at night and it's not safe for pedestrians passing by it as anyone could be lurking there waiting for an opportunity to mug someone.
PLEASE -- with the drug issues and the crime rate increasing -- can we PLEASE have lighting at this bus shelter? I've been waiting for 3+ years already.
Thank you!!

This issue was posted in duplicate by error. As a new member of this site, I didn't know that one had already posted and submitted the issue a second time.
Is it customary to 'close' issues with no acknowledgement that something will be done? Is it possible to have a status update? Was there any response from GMT?
I'd prefer to leave this issue 'open' until it's resolved since it's a community safety issue, if there's no objection?
Thanks.

Requesting a status update. A full week has gone by and I'd like to know if there has been any response from GMT regarding this issue.
Thanks!

Can anyone here tell me who is responsible for the safety and maintenance of the GMT bus shelters?
This lack of proper lighting continues to be a safety issue at this location and it seems nobody is stepping up to resolve it.
Is it a South Burlington issue? A GMT issue?
The only response so far was on 4-12 on a duplicate post that has since been 'closed' and 'archived' :

I will pass this along to GMT with the requisite urgency

This is NOT a CLOSED issue until there is lighting once again at this bus shelter. I'd appreciate being steered in the right direction to move this issue along.
What's next? Contacting the media?
Thanks.

Dweebus: Justin said that he was notifying GMT. He did not say it was specifically and SOLELY a GMT issue, as you are now implying.
I'm not sure that's true since it sits on SB property. I'll be researching this.
And, I'll be happy to CLOSE this issue that's of concern to all who use this bus shelter when it has actually been FIXED with proper lighting.
Thanks!

I've been assured that GMT is aware of the lighting issue at this and other bus shelters and they are developing a plan to remedy this.
Thank you, GMT!
