Description

In the evening hours turning left from Clanton Rd onto South Blvd, there has been multiple incidences of the light cycling 10+ times, excluding the left turn signal, causing cars on Clanton to sit for as long as 30min to turn left. The location of the light rail (Median of South Blvd) doesn't help the situation at all, as the cars turning left on to Clanton from South will have to miss several light cycles before being able to turn when a train comes though. This creates a hazard as cars will instead utilize the left turn for a local business to make a U-turn, bypassing the light, and causing very close calls with both trains and oncoming traffic. The design of the intersection with the combination of the poor light timing is a disaster waiting to happen. Great job Charlotte and city leaders on this design not only causing the issues above, but also for causing horrendous traffic jams during rush hour as South Blvd heading away from town is stopped by trains twice in less than a mile.
