I appreciate that the men filled the open area with asphalt, but I firmly believe that this is a very temporary fix. There is a leak from the storm drain that undermined the asphalt. When the man tamped the new asphalt down, it was very clear that while one area to the side of the hole showed no movement, another area in front vibrated visibly. It is apparent that this second area, next to the original hole, does not have a firm underpinning. I expect that this area of asphalt will fail as soon as the hot weather arrives. The brick and cement of the storm drain is funneling water outside of the drain itself. That is what needs to be repaired if the asphalt is to hold.
