Thank you for contacting the Oakland Call Center, but additional information will be needed before your service request can be processed. Are there individuals living in the motor home? If so please report to Oakland Police Department, Non-emergency line at (510)777-3333. This information will help us better process your request. Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.
I have been calling the mayors office to vent frustration I recommend doing the same. Also there is apparently a committee meeting at Oakland city hall on May 9th at 4 or 5pm, where people can get 2min talking time. Committee is called "Life Enrichment", spread the word and let's all show up.
We also need to put pressure on our Council Member, for District 3 its Council Member: Lynette Gibson McElhaney
Email: lmcelhaney@oaklandnet.com - Found that here: http://mapgis.oaklandnet.com/councildistricts/ Please share and let's email her.
I will add the above advice to my list but I am incredibly discouraged since I spoke with someone at the City Attorney's office yesterday who seemed in disbelief and denial that this was all going on. I have also been calling the OPD daily and they record that they come out and monitor but still nothing is done. What could the turning point possibly be?
The OPD won't do anything because they are advised by the mayor that these camps are basically OK. Hence call the mayor office every day and write your council member and go to meetings with enough other people we might get somewhere. It's all in the numbers.
