Sad to say, when you buy a home around a train track, you're going to hear trains. I'm not willing to increase tax money because you were not proactive in forethought. In all likelihood, the price of your home was undercut to reflect the annoyance. That would be like buying a big house for $25K, in the ghetto and b*tchin' about the boarded up houses on your street. Can't have cake and eat it too. Here's a suggestion; sell your home and move to a quiet neighborhood.
I have lived in Wickliffe for 13 years. When I bought my home the noise from the train horns was not nearly as frequent as it is now. Over the past 5 years or so I have noticed an increased in train noise. This should be addressed.
Having the city upgrade the crossing will be a waste of money. The Lloyd Road crossing can be upgraded so the trains don't have to sound their horn, but you have the E289 crossing and the Lubrizol crossing and E. 305 crossing nearby, which is in Willowick. Wickliffe will not upgrade the 289th crossing so the horns would continue to sound there. It would be up to Lubrizol and Willowick to upgrade their crossings. This area will never be a quiet zone.
