The traffic lights near Beachmont Station, across from Dunkin Donuts, when you want to take a left on Winthrop Ave towards the station, are absolutely ridiculous in the morning!! The light lets maybe 5 or 6 cars go thru at the most, before turning red. This area is very congested in the morning, with traffic coming from Crescent Ave and Bennington Street......not to mention cars coming out of Dunkin Donuts, wanting to cut into traffic to take a left, people trying to cross to get to the train station, and especially children trying to cross the street to get to the Beachmont School!!! This light needs to be at least 30 seconds longer, because it is only a matter of time before someone gets hit crossing for the train station or school because someone is in a hurry to make the light. I really CANNOT believe there haven't been numerous complaints about this!! The timing on these lights needs to be changed!! Please?!?!

I'm disappointed in the Revere DPW response. The original issue is talking about the public safety. The safety of people, including children, who cross at that intersection. And my impression of the Revere DPW response is that it isn't our road so we can't protect you. I believe it is the city's responsibility to protect the safety of it's citizens no matter whose road it is. The better response is for the Revere DPW to represent the citizens of Revere and contact whichever state department they need to to work out a solution to this problem.
This isn't the first complaint about the safety of people crossing at this intersection. I have a complaint (ID #2925974) that has been working since December of last year and I'm still waiting for an update response from the City of Revere on whether a plan has been worked out to make this intersection safer. I know that people have been injured at this intersection so I don't know why there is resistance to getting this issue some attention.
I would like to hear a response from the Revere DPW and the Mayor's office. Thank you.
