I know it's disappointing for some people not to be able to use Hall Road as a race track, but I was not talking about adding another light, only moving the existing one down 50 feet so it is in front of the mall - it would serve a greater purpose at that location. And for those speeders looking for a place to drive without lights - stay off Hall Road!

all you have to do is either go down to romeo plank from the mall or go to garfield by way of the mall

I also think the light should be moved down, it doesn't make any sense where it is at now....poor planning on the road commission's part. I try to stay off Hall anyways & use the Garfield entrance...much easier.

I think that all exits from the mall on to Hall Rd. should be closed off. People would then be forced to exit to Romeo Plank or Garfield Rd. where cars can exit in safer manner. I got to hand it to the road commission who approved the Hall Rd. exit plan, they are either taking a payoff to let that happen or sandwich shy of picnic basket.

I don't if I'd close Hall off completely, then Garfield would be even more of a mess. Perfect fix would just be to move that light down to where it should have been in the first place. Sometimes you just gotta' wonder what they were thinking (shakes head)

This is not under the Road Commission's jurisdiction. Hall Road (M-59) is under MDOT (Michigan Dept of Transportation) jurisdiction. We have forwarded these concerns on to them.

MDOT informed us that a traffic impact study was prepared for the Partridge Creek Mall before the mall opened its doors to determine the traffic impacts on M-59 and the adjacent turnarounds to the main entrance. The study showed that a traffic signal is needed at the westbound to eastbound turnaround just west of the mall main entrance to provide gaps for traffic exiting the mall and also to prevent traffic backups on the same turnaround that would spill onto westbound M-59 through movement.

I hope this explanation helps to clarify the reason why the traffic signal was placed at the turnaround and not at the mall main entrance.

Thank you for responding! The problem is, although it may have been designed with the intent of having "gaps" in traffic, that is not the result. There is a steady flow of traffic heading eastbound and, as soon as the light turns red, the cars that are making the "Michigan left" turn, so unfortunately, there is no break in traffic for those exiting the mall. Truly wish MDOT would examine it again and come up with a better solution!

Let's just say the whole idea and design of Hall Road is a mess. Why put all the shopping area on the only main thru way that goes east/west? We just need an expressway above the Hall Road shopping district....Utica to Chesterfield! Then the shoppers can go back and forth between shops and the traffic can actually flow freely on the expressway above!!!!!

We need for you to provide hellicopter rides for all that feel they are being held up by the traffic or maybe you can pay for such a huge project ! get real.

There should NOT be a light at that point. Anyone leaving that egress should go to the next turn around and not be allowed to utilize the one adjacent to that point. Wideing of Hall Road at that point os whats needed. This wouild allow trafic to flow and minimal backups would occure due to drivers wanting to bypass traffic until the last minute.

You can see the results of Macomb County Road Commission and their study. Another words they should refund the taxpayer the money spent on the study. The MCRC should be held personally for every accident that occurs from the mess they made!

Hall Road is under the jurisdiction of Michigan Dept of Transportation, not the County.

Instead of passing the buck to other "jurisdictions", why not collaborate with them? A man walks down the street and sees trash but walks by. He feels it isn't his "responsibility".

Yes a traffic light is needed. A traffic light is also needed at Partridge Creek Blvd. & Romeo Plank also. Some drivers are just plain rude and ennjoy cuttin g folks off and speeding. Crazies

This situation has gone from bad to worse, and I cannot believe that MDOT would be so stupid as to think offering a "gap" of traffic (what "gap", I might ask???) is sufficient for those exiting the mall onto Hall Road. Oakland Mall and Lakeside Mall both have traffic lights at the point of ingress/egress, so that motorists can safely exit the mall onto the surrounding roads. Maybe if the highway engineers who designed this had to actually sit there and wait to turn, they would witness the stupidity of their design!
