We work closely with various City departments and local social service providers to address issues faced by our homeless population, and we also work with neighborhood associations to address the concerns they have, as well. Our Police Department has a Street Outreach Team that actively canvasses areas where the activities of the homeless are noticed, and they will continue doing so to ensure the safety of all citizens. Please immediately report any criminal activity or safety concerns to the SPPD directly by calling 727-893-7780 if not an emergency, or 911 if an emergency. Thank you.

This lot has been a gathering place and blight on the neighborhood for 20 plus years. All Children's Hospital bought it and demolished a longstanding community of affordable homes. A security guard at the hospital told me they called it the "Hobo Lot". It was peaceful for a time when the hospital fenced it and used it for outdoor storage of construction materials. The fence was removed when construction ended and it again became a gathering spot littered with beer bottles and other trash.
These people are not necessarily homeless. Some camp here at night but others just hang out and drink or use drugs.
The Salvation Army should be held accountable for the behavior of people that they bring into our neighborhood.
