Springside really needs to be fixed. It's not a heavily travelled road (mostly local traffic) but it's still horrendous to navigate, between the pot holes and the curves.

I took a picture of one of the worst offenders. This one is more of a gouge in the road than a pot hole. Can we get it fixed/patched before the winter rolls around?

Agreed, the road is awful and patching the potholes is a temporary solution at best; the drainage issue needs to be dealt with before more band-aid dollars are thrown at what clearly needs a longer-term solution. That said, it is also necessary that when this is done, as per the city's Complete Streets law, bicycle and pedestrian access along this road is vastly improved as there is currently zero infrastructure for them and cyclists and pedestrians put their life into the hands of a decrepit road and out-of-control drivers. My daughter is a camper at Common Ground this summer and there is, frankly, no safe, reasonable way to walk or ride my bike with her there from any direction. Given the presence of the camp and high school (and year-round after-school programs) as well as the proximity to both SCSU and Westville Manor, the most geographically-isolated public housing development in New Haven (with, I'm guessing, very low car-ownership rates), this is clearly a roadway on which to prioritize some better transportation options!

maybe if the city spent more money on taking care of the streets of new haven and less on illeagal I.D. cards the city would be a better place to vist!

I am guessing these were partially addressed, since when I passed through here yesterday the potholes didn't seem all that bad. Can someone confirm?

The conditions vary along the length of Springside/Wintergreen so I could be referring to another location.

Dear Anonymous, I agree with you 100%, I have said at public meetings that there isn't any street worst than Springside. I've told the city that it is number 1 on my list, and apparently, since it is an election year, they have decided to patch it up about 2 weeks ago. I drove it yesterday, and the patches seem to be holding. I agree, and the city does also, that there needs to be a more permanent fix. As you said, drive down it any rainy day and it does have many runoffs from the mountain. If reelected, it will be one of my top priorities.
