Description
From Kennedy Boulevard west, Bleecker Street crosses Columbia Avenue, Liberty Avenue and Terrace Avenue. Each of these intersections has only 2 stop signs. Cars come racing off Kennedy Boulevard at 40 miles an hour and without STOP signs they proceed the entire length and make turns at speeds over the 25 mi limit. Our neighborhood has been trying to get 4 way stop signs on each of these intersections for years but we have been turned down because there is not enough traffic during the day to meet their criteria. These streets have children playing and elders crossing. It's a residential area. There have been many car accidents but no lives lost luckily. At rush hour Bleecker Street is so dangerous. What could a few STOP signs cost to possibly prevent a nightmare waiting to happen?
