Description

Good Afternoon -- I have written before but nothing has been done about what I feel is a VERY DANGEROUS issue.

Topanga Canyon Boulevard, SOUTHBOUND (and, to some extent, Northbound), between Lassen Street and Nordhoff Street has been and continues to be a VERY DANGEROUS stretch of road. We have lived in the Nantucket Creek Apartments for almost 2 years and have become aware of NUMEROUS accidents (at least 5 I can think of) -- And some of them are VERY BAD -- one woman, I was told, died from her injuries.

At this very moment, there are at least 3 or 4 cars JUST along the stretch outside our apartment (between Prairie and Nordhoff) -- these cars have been there [undriveable due to horrible wrecks] for weeks and months on end -- last year a couple of cars sat there (again undriveable] for over 3-4 months before they were finally moved.

We believe one cause of many of these accidents is the fact that 3 lanes turn into two between Lassen Street and Prairie (just 1/4 block north of the our apartment complex entrance), which causes many SPEEDING motorists to have to veer over into other cars in order NOT to hit the cars ahead of them -- but many times, they are unsuccessful. One tenant told us their car had been sideswiped TWICE within one week, they believe, by drunk drivers who, again, must not have realized how quickly the road goes from 3 lanes to 2.

I am attaching some pictures I took, which you'll need to zoom in on to see the extent of the damage. This was our most recent two (or was it 3 accidents).

If there is nothing you can do, PLEASE PLEASE let me know who I can turn to for help! Thank you.

Debra Gouveia
