During heavy rains that we have been experiencing it takes awhile for the storm water to drain. Also retention pond it drains into, if that level is high it will also be cause for slow drainage.

simply stating "it happens" doesn't really address the issue. Is there anything that can be done to address this? It is a re-occurring problem that does pose a safety risk.

EACH time there is heavy rain, there is very high standing water in this location. This is a safety risk for motorists who do not realize the high water is there, and to the homeowners in the area if a motorist loses control of their vehicle as a result.

What is the plan in the future to remedy this?

It is obvious that the current storm drain is insufficient for heavy volumes of rain. While it is true it does not happen very often, it still does happen.

After doing some research it has been discovered that the storm drain in the area drains to the west into the wetland at the end of the block. I have contacted the Park District asking them to clear vegetation and
soil from the end of the pipe to improve storm water flow.

Have you noticed an improvement in the drainage at this location? Some work has been done in the area mentioned and would like to know how/if its working.

I will pay more attention this weekend, we are supposed to get more rain. The last two times we got substantial rain I was not home. Thanks in advance if the work that has been done is working.

Will continue to get this drainage working. Thank you for the info.

Park District has cleared vegetation and soil with a small excavator in the wetland area to the west. Catch basins and storm pipes should be operating properly.
