Description
The owner of 9226 Crownwood Road, Dr. Jeff Middleton contacted SWMD with a drainage complaint a couple of weeks ago. I visited his property on Friday 4/28/17. During the visit, he indicated Highways had done some work over the years to maintain the swale in front of his house, which is a the low point of a cul-de-sac in the Dunloggin neighborhood. There is a privately installed inlet, small drain pipe, and sidewalk in this area. The owner claims that the swale continues to fill up with sediment, and then the water overflows down the east side of his yard toward Macalpine Road because there is nowhere else for the water to flow – no storm drain system. The privately installed inlet and pipe were meant to carry water under the sidewalk, so it’s not a large “system” – it was installed years ago by the owner’s father who owns the adjacent property, and was not part of the original development. He is requesting that a properly-sized inlet and storm drain system be installed here.
Several photos are attached for your information. His sidewalk is damaged, which the owner claims was caused by a recycling truck, so I have included Alan on this email. Unfortunately, fixing the sidewalk damage from the recycling truck alone won’t fix his drainage issue. It also appears to be damaged by overland flow that exceeds the swale and small inlet/pipe system.
