The owners of the lot, The West Oakland Development Group, don't care about anything except their per car income. They're selfish and terrible neigbors. They also fenced in that corner and have allowed that homeless encampment to turn in to what looks like a garbage dump.

I just called Code Enforcement at the number above. 1.) the service request number above means nothing to them, and 2.) I went on Google Maps Satellite and read off a bunch of different street numbers (since this basically covers most of the block) they tell me that also means nothing to them as none of the address numbers are connected to a parcel number, since that is what they need in order to go after the responsible party. he told me I have to download *another* app called Oakland TellUs, as that has a more accurate GPS. How incredibly frustrating. I just want the neighborhood I live in and have to walk through everyday to be cleaned up and the parking lot owners, who are raking in tons of money every day to take some responsibility for cleaning up their property.

Code enforcement knows who's lot it is. If you call back, tell them it's the Mandela Gateway parking lot owned by West Oakland Development Group. It looks like they're fencing off the parcel across the street to turn it into another fenced in dump too....

I told them this as well. I said the West Oakland Development, the parking lot stretching between Union and Mandela, different address numbers, etc etc etc. didn't matter. he wanted an ADDRESS that matched a PARCEL number. Government at its best.

yeah, I noticed them starting to fence in the corner across the street too.

Update: I called Code Enforcement again today to follow up on the status of my complaint on Oakland Tell Us....she went and spoke to an inspector and said he had already gone out to the location but the parcel was "so large" he didn't get to it all. the woman on the phone said he was going to go out there again today and I told her to relay to the inspector to make sure he focuses on the Encampment on the corner and work his way down 5th Street towards Mandela. We'll see what happens.

still - no resolution to this issue. it's been what - 2 months?

Still nothing done. I've followed up with Code Enforcement to let them know nothing has been done with this. AND, apparently the owners of the lot did NOT KNOW the corner where that huge encampment is is part of their property! Unbelievable! '

How hard is it to maintain their property? it would take a few hours or less to pick up the garbage and whack the weeds. it's disgusting.

finally, FINALLY the parking lot owners cleaned up the weeds. I was on vacation the last 2 weeks of October and when I came home I noticed the weeds were GONE. Hallelujah! it only took 5 months - multiple calls to code enforcement, several complaints on two different apps. now let's see if they actually maintain it. thank you!
