This is more than unsightly. The house is full of junk and poses a potential fire hazard. The yard also has waste that should not be there.

The house also seems to be a haven for vermin (rats, skunks, and raccoons). I would also not be surprised if it became a target of squatters looking for shelter. Not sure how the owners get away with this in the city. Similar to 219 E.Columbia's junk yard.

Attn Bylaws. Probably worth a trip down the alley in the back too. That's where the worst issues are, with several properties along there.

As a piece of information if there is an issue just in the laneway (e.g. overgrowth, materials in the laneway) you can contact Parking Services at 604-51-2010 as it could fall within the Street and Traffic Bylaw.

This matter should remain open until action has been taken by the property owner. As it stands, it is in worse condition than when the issue was reported. Please ensure this is followed up on and resolved in a timely fashion.

Agreed. Simply contacting the owner is not a sufficient solution to this problem. There needs to be action and follow up.

The property owner has been advised and has 10 days to comply from date of notification. As the matter has been referred to bylaw officer and action to be taken are handled by them we don't keep the issue here open as this is reporting mechanism (we have a separate file system). However feel free to comment or reopen in 10 business days.

Can this property be flagged for routine checks? This has been an ongoing issue at this property for several years and continues to get worse as time passes. With the hot and dry weather upon us again, the state of this property poses a significant fire risk not just for the property itself but also to the neighbouring properties. The only time anything is done here is after a complaint, or several, are filed by local residents. While I appreciate that we have a civic responsibility to report these matters, this should really be handled in a more proactive manner by the City to whom we pay a good amount of taxes to enforce their bylaws. If this isn't addressed by the property owner in 10 business days, I will be following up on the matter again. I would appreciate knowing that the City will be proactive and ensure the property continues to comply with the bylaws after this matter is addressed. Thank you.

As I stated above, this property along with another routine offender at 219 E.Columbia have been a problem for decades now. Is there nothing the city can do to put more pressure on these routine offenders?
