You need to notify the Utility Company that the pole may fall....

UI has been notified 3 times in the past 3 weeks. They have not done anything about it. Hasn't even sent anyone to assess the problem. Pole is less than 20' from front door and sinkhole has gotten wider and deeper. This needs to be rectified asap.

Call the Fire Department and have them come out for a NON EMERGENCY call. Fully explain the situation to them reiterating it is a NON EMERGENCY and say the pole looks as if its beginning to lean/move. They have contacts at UI we don't.
If that doesn't work, maybe try PURA.

Why call the Fire Department? And what is PURA?

3 months later, the town finally came and put 5 shovel fulls of dirt into a 8 foot deep (actually much deeper) sink hole. As far as I'm concerned the problem wasn't properly address or fixed, the town just threw a bandaid on the problem and called it day.
If it was a pothole, it would have been acknowledged within 48 hours and fixed in 2 weeks. I guess better late with a bandaid fix is better than nothing.
