Very hard to drive through this intersection. There needs to be a left turn arrow. Adding to the mess is all the entrences to the gas stations and burger king.

Try coming out of Burger King when you need to get onto Ridge and head toward Norristown.
As I recall, it's illegal to make a left directly out of BK onto Ridge, so you have to try to get out of BK via a left ontoTrooper which is nearly impossible. We end up making a right onto trooper and cutting through the neighborhoods...not such a safe thing for the kids there huh?
The next intersection up Ridge is just as bad ( the shopping center with the ACME)
Both of these shopping centers were buildt without the traffic in mind. Don't tell me they didn't know there would be traffic. They knew there were plenty of people to shop in the centers becasue of the plentiful housing that was going up at the time- hence the need for more shopping centers- hence the need for better traffic control. (Traffic control does not make money people...can't rent out the street lights or the asphalt or the paintlines like you can a shopping center)

All of you people need a life. Use your common sense to navigate around this intersection if you think it is that dangerous. Too many vehicles using the same roads that were in use 50 years ago leads to excessive congestion. If you need to use a neighborhood use it, just obey the traffic laws. Not too hard to figure out, is it?

Obviously you don't read the million other postings here that want red lights at every intersection, speed bumps on every road and their streets to be physically blocked during rush hours to prevent cutting through neighborhoods. How about widening the roads so they can be used as designed, but our state is too busy funding pensions for state workers and legislators and coming up with schemes to toll federally funded highways for their purposes to add more state workers with pensions to administer. But we could be in Jersey......

I wholeheartedly agree with this!!!! Why on earth would you have it only on two lights? It needs to be on all four sides!!!! When heading east on Ridge during rush hour, traffic heading west on Ridge is NON-STOP, and it is impossible to make a left---DUH, put an arrow! The same goes for heading south on Trooper towards Ridge. Traffic there is always backed up because people can't make a left, in addition to the people making a right on to West Ridge towards the Acme. Having a right turning lane would definitely improve the traffic flow...I HATE this intersection!

All that would do is increase the wait time for everyone else at the intersection who would then try to avoid it by cutting through the neighborhoods. There is no real solution to the problem except to widen the roads......... which will invite more traffic.

Nobody wants to sit in traffic, and nobody wants their neighborhood used as a thoroughfare.
Why don't you try leaving 5 minutes earlier?

to quit_whining - my post said we need a LEFT TURN ARROW when traveling EAST on Ridge onto NORTH Trooper. There is already a left turn arrow going WEST on Ridge turning SOUTH onto Trooper Road. It makes no sense why the 2 left turn arrows cannot operate simultaneously like most intersections. Why have an arrow going one direction and not other? For those of us who need to turn left and go NORTH onto Trooper, certain times of the day, it is impossible because the traffic never stops coming towards you! I am not asking to widen the roads or cut through neighborhood where children are playing - Just use the traffic signals already in place. It is extremely dangerous to "sneak" turning left while the light is turning yellow/red and the traffic stops coming the opposite direction and the turning green for Trooper road.

agree 100%. This intersection has been bad for years. They just did quite a bit of construction to put in the new Wawa and add a right turn lane from Trooper onto Ridge, rebuilding much of the intersection. It seems that we've missed an opportunity to get the needed left turn lanes in place cost-efficiently while doing the other work. I'd think the accident rate alone at this intersection would have them doing something about it.

Forgot mention that there's left turn arrows both directions from Trooper Road turning onto Ridge....so THREE out of FOUR directions have left turn arrows. It makes no sense to when the Ridge Pike left turn arrows could operate simultaneously and no additional lanes or construction needed...just a simple light with an arrow...
