Thank you for sharing your concerns on the collection of trash at Wall Springs Park. Wall Springs has two full time staff. The opening Ranger arrives at 6:30 a.m. with the responsibility to check and clean the shelters and restrooms. The closing Ranger arrives at 10:30 a.m. and the first responsibility is to empty trash and recycling cans. It is unfortunate that you arrived at sunrise before the Ranger was able to collect the trash. Thank you for understanding our maintenance procedure and we hope you continue to enjoy the park.

We appreciate the Parks Department in taking the time to read our concern and respond, however, we are unable to make the connection how knowledge of the maintenance schedule addresses the trash found at sunrise.

According to the maintenance schedule as described, trash left in the bins the night prior is not checked again until about 13.5 hours later (9p-1030a). We suggest discussing the maintenance schedule and modifying it to remove trash in the evenings so that is not accessible to our nocturnal friends, this would eliminate the trash we see on the grounds at sunrise.

If its decided the maintenance schedule should not modified, another solution to consider is to attach lids with a latch, ultimately deterring animals from getting into them.

We hope our Parks Department agrees that the end result is to ensure our parks are clean and that we do not allow our animals to become dependent on visitors trash. We look forward to a solution that directly addresses this issue.

We are working hard with rangers' schedules to get the garbage picked up regularly in the morning.
