The reduced speed allows for reaction time to oncoming traffic and vehicles entering the roadway. That is a residential neighborhood with hidden driveways. See 75 Pa. Cons. Stat. § 3362 for state law regarding posted limits in residential area. In the past year I witnessed 3 accidents at the 5Points/Isabel intersection due to cars flying down the street. Be glad it's not reduced further to 15mph as a school zone.
I disagree as well. You want to fly down hills? Go skiing! There are so many streets, driveways and not to mention a day care on this stretch of road. 25 mph forces drivers to PAY ATTENTION!
I also disagree. 25 makes you go 30-35. 35 would have people going 40+, which is way too fast. Life isn't a race- leave earlier, drive slower, and enjoy the ride.
Yeah, it's a racetrack on this road. Kids thumping their music on the way to the park and back. Loud exhausts sounding like a weedwacker. People jog on this stretch also, so keep the limit low. Head to 202 or I-95 if ya wanna drive fast.
C'mon people, someone was killed on this road due to someone driving way too fast as they were turning into THEIR OWN driveway. This is not a thru street as there are MANT\Y driveways directly off. Use Westtown RD or other through streets if you want to go faster.
Between Paoli Pike and West Chester Pike is what?? a quarter mile. At 25 miles per hour with the traffic coming out the back of Shop Rite and the homes on the street what's the problem with 3 more seconds out of your life.
This is absolutely a through street. People just choose to live there. That doesn't make it a residential street. People live on Boot Road and Paoli Pike, but the speed limits there aren't 25. Get real.
Let me think here. From Paoli pike you go down a pretty steep hill and past numerous driveways and a daycare center. Then around a very sharp bend with a driveway and shopping center entrance on the left, Then up a hill past more store entrances, and finally steeply downhill to a light at WC Pike. 25 mph is safe, sane, and proper.
As someone posted earlier, the 25MPH speed limit is in place because of sight issues with the many many driveways along the roadway. Paoli Pk & Boot Rd may have housing, but they are state roadways and PennDOT sets the speed limit.
I am a resident on that stretch of Five Points Road. This is a residential area, with a Day Care Center as well. I've lived here for almost eight years, and can tell you that there have been more accidents than I can count in that area. Give us a break and SLOW DOWN!
Absolut, it is NOT a through street, as you said. It's zoned residential. Just because you see it as a through street doesn't mean that you can speed down the road. As for the kids from the daycare center "playing in the street", that's just an idiotic comment. We bring the children up because there are parents dropping off and picking them up every day every day of the week, and that's a difficult spot to come out of.
And let's not forget the number of people who walk or bike along that part of Five Points Road. OR all the people coming in and out of the bank at the Paoli Pike end.
Absolut, why don't we all come tearing down the street in front of your house 24 hours a day and see how you like it?!
This street is a residential street, and it was a residential street before it ever became a "through street". Stores have only been built in the area because people live here! It is also a curvy and hilly street. Hey, if you want to cut through from Paoli Pike to West Chester Pike while going 40mph or more, then GET ON ROUTE 202! It's only one exit. Why should speeding "cut through" drivers endanger the lives of the residents and school children in this area?! Why do you think area school zone speed limits are 15mph while school is in session? It's not because the schools let your children play in the streets! Have some respect for the lives of innocent people and their neighborhood!
I also disagree. That road has the potential to back up at the lights and if you come around the corner too fast you could pile up. If you want to speed get on 202 for one exit.

I'd be really ticked off if daycare was letting my kids play in the streets.
It's not a residential neighborhood. It's a through street. And it's not very hilly at all.
