The entire stretch of Rt. 9 in Newton is an embarrassing danger to all travelers in / out of Boston, especially with the Brookline stretch so beautifully paved last year.

Shame on all responsible. Truly the most horrific road, some stretches near the atrium mall and east surpassing unpaved ditches!

In New Haven we just had a major issue with 252 "votes to fix" and the city passed unanimous legislation to address it.

How about a bike lane here?

Public Health -- As a cyclist, I think a bike lane on this bridge over Rt. 9 would be a bad idea, giving at best a false sense of security to traversing this dangerous pair of intersections. Cars exiting onto the Parker St. bridge from Rt. 9 have to nudge out onto Parker to be able to see whether the street is clear. For their safety, cyclists need to move into the vehicle lane to cross the bridge (or else walk their bikes). Someone riding along the side of the street at 20mph would end up a hood ornament, marked bike lane or not.

Well, the follow-up comment comes 7 months later. It seems our newton stretch of RT 9 got paved. It was definitely easier to take the inconvenience of the 3 weeks of paving to get a much safer, even pleasant road. Now, we have to address the major side streets off Rt 9. I doubt that will happen, but would be happy to vote on any tax rate increase to support it.
