To any interested party-- my Airbnb is properly registered with the city/ state and we offer off street parking. I was recently contacted by the City of Burlington re. my taxes and it was verified that my taxes are up-to-date. I'm sorry if my business has caused you any psychological grief.

Code Enforcement needs to investigate and then close this issue when they see fit.

Interesting the property owner attempted to close this issue before Code Enforcement acknowledged the issue. Plus on Airbnb's site the property is not shown in it's actual location. This is a common technique by Airbnb hosts to throw off enforcement agencies and dodge taxes and responsibilities related to having a transient rental property with people coming and going at all times of the day and night.

Dear Elizabeth, I closed the conversation, not for any reason that you assumed, but rather because it is my first experience with the site and I hit the closed key only to realize that I couldn't go back. As for tying to hide my location, I didn't try do that, I simply responded to an online prompt for the cross street of my location. Honestly, there's more issues with the website's interface than there are with the people you are complaining about. While I am not in agreement with your paranoia about Airbnb hosts, I assure you that I, like the vast majority of Airbnb owners, are honest tax and code abiding business people. And, just so you know, we are responsible for pouring millions of dollars (that's not an exaggeration) of new tax revenue for our city and state. Dollars collected from Room/ Meals tax are upgrading our recreational areas including Burlington's bike path and Waterfront park.

Julie is correct. Airbnb brings millions of dollars into our state thru increased tourism and taxes. And there is no skipping out on paying those taxes as they are collected and remitted to the City of Burlington and the State of Vermont automatically now thru Airbnb.

Each of the properties that were reported with a connection to Airbnb is being evaluated individually because the circumstances are different for each.

One definitive statement I can make about all of the units is that the City and AirBnB have entered into a written agreement, and AirBnB has been remitting taxes to the Clerk/Treasurer’s Office on a monthly basis.

Shocking that a home devoted 100% to Airbnb is taxes the same as private homeownership. Hotels are taxes at commercial rates. Airbnb's are forcing out long term renters and driving up rental rates. It's all smoke and mirrors that Airbnb "helps". Plus the parking issues it causes are real. This particular unit continually has 2-3 cars using street parking on an already over crowned street while the owners are traveling and spending their Airbnb winnings.

Elizabeth, let me clarify: 1. I live in that house! 2. My Airbnb is a registered business and you don't have the right to tell me how to make a living. 3. Comparing a two room rental to a hotel is ridiculous. 4. Whether long term or a short term rental, the added street parking would be the same. 5. While you might believe I am spending my winnings on travel and luxury, I assure you I am just trying to make a living by providing a quality service to my guests while not disturbing my neighbors and so that I can continue to live here and pay my taxes.
