I took pic standing on north side of broadway heading west from middle of street.
Can you see the flashing pedestrian light? No? Well guess what; nobody else can either and just in a 5 minute period a pedestrian with dog and a Mom with her child had close calls on cars flying past the flashing intersection
You trimmed the tree but your blocking the flashing light with your no left turn sign
The legal liability and exposure would be in the millions
Due to the number of illegal u-turns and left-turns along Broadway it was necessary to place the signs to be as visible as possible. The crosswalk itself is the what makes this a crossing, not the flashing beacons. The beacons serve to enhance the crosswalk, and there are two flashers for each direction. Staff will contact Burlingame Police to monitor the number of drivers not yielding to pedestrians.
Or we could try to combine the signs and put it on the other side of the intersection, back-to-back with the sign facing the other direction. So it doesn't block the safety sign or the beacons. And still be in direct view of drivers thinking about turning left.
Thanks for comment. Personally; I would certainly review this one with legal cause our City will be found liable just in the fact you have a flashing light but blocked its view. Just a personal opinion.
Thanks

Just a thought.
