I see this park as a near-term candidate for an outfield warning track/pedestrian path over a rubble drain along the natural topographic "crease" on the east side of the park from the entrance opposite Church St. directly to the playground level (and its catch basin). The rubble drain could be constructed of scrap concrete pieces from DPW sidewalk restoration projects and carry the overflow stormwater from Adams St. under the ground for slow seepage and nutrient deposition into the park's outfield soil. The path over the drain would permit pedestrians easier access from the entrances opposite Church St. and Elm Terrace and, by providing a drier, safer surface, promote use of a formal path and discourage traffic across the outfield of the ball field and the erosion on the steep, dangerous embankment to the north of the basketball court. Use of a dark-colored crusher mix on the path's surface, would promote snow melting and encourage its winter use as well. Think: no more infield erosion, no more desire path or its gullied erosion, drier pedestrian feet, fewer outfielders' injuries, less stormwater in our combined sewer, fewer nutrients dumped into the lake from storm overflows, and a secure footing for equipment during park landscaping and leaf cleanup all while keeping some rubble out of our landfills.

Thank you- we'll temporarily address some of the inflow of stormwater - the copy and paste of our website above by Oldvtr is initially what was bid this winter as part of the project, however, the budget didn't allow this fiscal year. With zero youth softball fields in the City the softball field took priority. Protecting the investment is importance to us and we'll take steps immediately to do that.

No sign of temporary "address of the inflow of stormwater". Erosion issue remains with resultant worsening damage. The ball field's new infield is more heavily eroded and still not playable; water from Adam's St. has pushed the recently added stone mix off the geotextile and into the outfield; and the continued flow of Adam's St. stormwater has exacerbated the erosion on the bank at the basketball court, pushing soil onto its painted surface, which will likely need repainting if not swept before it is used.

I noticed that many of the temporary sandbags have been moved such that ball field would likely be unprotected from erosion in a downpour. (I also noted that the park's grass has been mowed recently, so perhaps the sandbags were moved to provide access for the mower.) I have often seen sandbags fixed in position with wooden stakes and wonder if this might work to keep the majority of these in place as a temporary fix?
