We have a couple of projects in the area that are using the 3300 S. exit for a detour. I believe the heavy truck traffic you experienced was due to the I-80 resurfacing project from 1300 E. to Foothill that closed the interstate a couple of weekends in a row. That project is progressing and they will not be using 3300 S. for a detour any longer. The other project is a bridge project that currently is impacting Foothill Drive. That project will continue to utilize 3300 S. as a detour until mid-September however I would not anticipate a great deal of truck traffic as a result. The project team has made every effort to accommodate larger vehicles and keep everyone safe by posting signage that they should not use the left lane so they have the necessary room to make the turn. Safety is always a priority for UDOT and we try to keep impacts as minimal as possible for both highway users and local residents. The end results we hope will be worth it with new pavement and updated bridges along I-80. Thank you for your patience and if we can be of any further assistance please let us know.
