It's impossible to cross 288 on foot, too. If you're biking or walking, the west side may as well not exist. It's dangerous to cross 288, and then the parking lots are hot, dangerous, with no walkways. It may be very difficult to change the west. What about an attractive trolley?

Small and chain shops (like the strip malls) could offer pleasant stops, especially if they invested in a little garden space.

This issue along with similar issues were one of the many items rolled into the development of the new City Master Plan. There is no simple or quick solution to this important concern. It is something we do look at as part of any new development in these growing areas of the city. Given that this is a three year old comment for now I am closing this issue.
