Description
Last fall I sign was put up on Metcalf Road urging drivers to reduce speed on this extremely narrow road to 20 MPHs, however this is not the officialt speed limit for the road. I can say there has been no change in how drivers proceed on this road as last week I walking my sons down Metcalf and was almost hit by a speeding driver coming from Suth Washington Street who could not see us around the slight corner on this very narrow stretch of road. Additionally, the road is not immune to reckless drivers coming down Metcalf towards South Washington as many drivers only slow down once they're within 100 ft of South Washington. I have to be constantly vigiliant and have put a sign at my curb to urge drivers to slow down due to the presence of children. I can count twice in the last month where drivers have hit the sign, showing no regard for the safety of my family, and last night the sign was stolen from my lawn. I need the town of North Attleboro to act swiftly in order to protect my children and other residents who use Metcalf for the walks. The street is unsafe with the current 30 MPH speed limit. Anawan Road has a 20MPH speed limit and has much better sight lines and is double the width. By that measure the speed limit on Metcalf should be at most 15 MPHs in order to make this road safe for everyone. If you have any question please contact me, Jack Shamshoian, at 401-374-5242. Thank you.
