Description

The traffic light configuration at the intersection of Broadway and Galileo Galilei in Cambridge is hazardous under the current construction of the Akamai offices. The traffic signals running north along Galileo Galilei heading into Binney St have two ‘straight-on’ traffic arrows, which until recently directed two lanes of traffic. However, the right most lane is now ‘right-turn only’ and consequently the right ‘straight-on’ traffic arrow is now an orphaned light. This leads to potential driver confusion and annoyance, which could result in dangerous driving and pedestrian conditions at this busy intersection. The orphaned right ‘straight-on’ traffic arrow should be removed or covered up from service by Cambridge DOT during the construction period. Thank you.
