This is an ongoing problem that numerous neighbors have been pushing Oakland to address. The fact that all of this activity is surrounding Frog Park where kids play is extremely concerning. The possibility of a kid getting a needle @#$% from is frightening. This alone should raise the urgency of this particular camp with the city of Oakland. Let's keep pushing to get this addressed.

The City of Oakland is allowing the advocates of these illegal campers to hand out the syringes with no system in place to retrieve them. This is an extreme public heath and safety issue. As a Keep Dimond Clean volunteer part KOCB. I personally have picked up several hundred in and around the camps in the Dimond Dist. The only place I have found to get rid of them is to take them the Alameda Co household waste center.

This is a public safety hazard. Why isn't this addressed already?

This encampment is getting bigger, dirtier and scarier each day. The main resident is frequently sprawled out on the sidewalk with various buggies and other "acquired" possessions as tax paying citizens are simply trying to get to work via casual carpool. The fact that this encampment disrupts the casual carpool lane and is directly across from Frog Park where kids are supposed to feel safe to play is unacceptable. Please Oakland, do something about this one...it is getting out of control and presents some serious safety hazards on numerous fronts.
