Description

On Washington St. NE, crossing Lomas, both northbound and southbound, there are loops in the pavement to detect waiting vehicles and, at some times of the day (such as before 6:30am), activate a green crossing signal when a vehicle is over the loop. These loops used to detect bicycles as well as motor vehicles, but they no longer do (the ones on Washington crossing Indian School still do detect bicycles). Please reset the sensitivity of these loops so that they detect bicycles again, as well as motor vehicles. I'm not asking for a change in signal timing or control, just a chance for my bicycle to once again trigger a signal change as it used to do, and as cars still do. It is a pain to dismount and hit the pedestrian signal button to change the light, and it inconveniences drivers on Lomas more than the short green cycle triggered (now only) by cars. I'm seeing other bicyclists run the red light, which is not safe, rather than waiting for a car to come and change the signal.
