This is an important issue and one I hope can be corrected. The red mud run off after each rain goes directly into the storm drain and will eventually clog that system causing flooding in our area. The alley is not supposed to be blocked at any time, it is for resident and emergency vehicles only.

This issue is bigger than just this alleyway. New construction and major remodeling contractors regularly use our alleys with heavy equipment and trucks, rutting them, blocking them for days at a time, and dumping leftover cement to harden in huge lumps. All of these contractors need to be held accountable for the condition of the alley during construction and at completion. It seems the current rash of complaints about drainage and run-off are in areas of new construction.

We have an inspector checking out this issue and we have spoken with the builder about cleaning up the construction site and silt runoff. They indicate they will improve construction practices with their subcontractors.

Engineering inspected this site again with the builder. We have reinforced this concern with their subcontractors and vendors when staging material on-site. The builder hopes that within 4-6 weeks they will have the site restored and construction complete, pending weather conditions.
