Description
Is there a reason the city chose to not extend the bike lanes past the Plattsburg Ave intersection on North Ave? There are many cyclists who use North Ave past Plattsburg to get to the bike path off Starr Farm Rd. Can we please extend the bike lanes North past Plattsburg Ave. It would also make sense to extend them past the school as well.

Mary Lariviere, apparently you do not know this, but people riding bikes actually have a right to use our streets and roads as well, regardless of whether there is a bike lane or not. Limited access highways like VT127 and I-89 are the only exception.
When there is not dedicated cycling infrastructure where one is traveling using the full general purpose lane is often going to be the safest option. If you do not want to be "stuck behind a cyclist" then I suggest supporting a complete cycling network :) Out transportation system is "First Come, First Served".
P.s., I am a taxpayer, I have rights. Cars do not have rights, they are lumps of inanimate materials :)

Im a taxpayer too. I don't understand your issue with this. There are bike lanes south of the elementary school that do not extend to the school. Are you implying that children should not be allowed to use the road to get to school? Are you actually implying that the children should bike out of their way to only use the bike path? I guess I just don't understand.

The bike lanes are already there. Why are you against some extra paint on the road extending to the school? Its one block

Thank you for inquiring about the reason bike lanes were installed on North Avenue only as far north as Plattsburg Avenue. To extend bike lanes to the north, on-street parking would need to be prohibited. This is still a project under consideration for future implementation as we build out the bicycle network in phases.
The initial parking restriction and installation of bike lanes south of Plattsburg Avenue were pursued as a recommendation of the North Avenue Corridor Plan (which did not include the northernmost sections of North Ave).
Thanks for your interest in a more connected network for bicycling.
