Drinking while fishing is unfortunately the least of this town's problems. We have slumlords here downtown whose buildings are catching fire right and left. The city doesn't appear to value the lives of its residents very much. At all.
Downtownsally, the Times Herald is reporting: "A three-alarm fire — preliminarily being blamed on squatters — destroyed a 100-year-old, three-story abandoned home in downtown Vallejo Tuesday morning." is there more to this story???
Did the city pass the rental & historic building inspection ordinance they were proposing last year? I know landlords were against it. Sacramento had the same problems with Victorian homes burning down. They passed an ordinance requiring every home downtown to be inspected and brought up to code or the owner would have to forfeit or sell the property to someone with the resources. Fires were drastically reduced.
