Description

1. no fire alarm in rental
2. no working bathroom ventilation
3. windows broken or not sealed
4. ceiling starting to crack and sag
5. cracks along bottoms of walls on interior and exterior on inside and outside of building
6. no insulation box around wall air conditioner unit causing cool air to flow into walls as not closed in (this has made my power bill double since the box was removed in April 2017. This removal was done when I called landlord as there was water coming into my bedroom. Landlord came to look at it and said he would be back the next day but has never returned to check on unit. I felt as though the water was coming from the exterior as the foundation is cracking in same area.
7. due to the wet carpet, it appeared and smelled like mold. Landlord denied it was mold; although, it appears mold and mildew are present around exterior of apartment building (photo attached). Another resident had mold growing in cabinext below kitchen sink
8. wall air conditioner leaking water on exterior walkway making it very slippery. A few people have slipped and fallen
9. bad ant and cockroach problem. Landlord has never done any exterior bug control on exterior as lease states he would maintain. The bug problem could also be due to a hoarder that lives in apartment 5. Her hoarding is so out of control that she is unable to get to her bedroom and must sleep on the couch. Also hornets and wasps present and have recently noticed a few sighting of large rats.
10. wall outlets near water are not grounded. All of the outlets in my unit were loose connections but I replaced the outlets in my unit; however, I am sure the other units have not been replaced
11. no gutters or drainage system on exterior and no grading on walkways causing massive flooding along sidewalk leading to the majority of the units (especially outside apartment 3 and 4).=
12. the exteror of the building appears to be cracking and falling apart

Landlord does not keep up with property and only here at the beginning of each month to collect his rent payments. He states that we should not complain as "you cannot find anywhere else cheaper to live". With landlord not keeping up with maintenance, it can be a very dangerous place to live for myself who is disabled. In addition, there are 2 of the other 4 residents in the building that are disabled.
