I am sure this property was already under notice, if the inspector in this sector was doing his job.
Now I will wait to see how long it takes to get this problem remedied. The plywood continues to fall off the addition and it is now open to the elements on the Darst Road side. I would appreciate being updated on the outcome.

Much progress has been made by the new owner the past couple years. Most progress that has been made is not visible from the street. The neighboring house that caught fire was a total loss and the structure has been removed. Due to the heat, 45 N Maple sustained damage to the exterior vinyl siding.
Progress can now be seen from Darst. Repairs to the large windows on the north side have begun. Communication with the owner will be ongoing as repairs continue.

I reported this issue on August 6th and have been waiting for a reply. I am glad the new owner is making progress on the inside. Since the fire next door was in August of 2016 I would think that in the ensuing 14 months that some of the outside repairs could have been made as well. I have looked at the "progress" on the north side and do indeed hope that your communication with the owner will be ongoing and that it will not be another 14 months before the area open to the elements is repaired completely. I hope you will leave this complaint open until then.

Kathy, the siding was melted off the house behind there as well, and I'm not sure if it is even repaired yet. I don't know the inside story, but I wonder whether Angel's Arms had insurance, or whether those homeowners ended up getting stuck with the bill out of their own pocket. I can tell you that at least one person I know who lives near there wasn't sorry to see that fire.

The windows on the Darst Road side are still not in. The addition is open to the elements as we go into winter. The most recent complaint was made FOUR months ago, and still the siding hangs on both sides of the home as well as the open to the elements problem. What is the status of this complaint from the fire damage SIXTEEN months ago?

A final notice has been issued to have all items abated by 1/12/18. If not completed Summonses will be issued to the Owner of Record.

Case currently has a court date of 4/24/18.

I hope it will be noted that this complaint goes back 8 months. And the fire damage goes back almost
2 years. It is time for action on this property, he has been given more than enough time to fix the exterior of the home and show that he is making a good faith effort. There has been no effort on his part on the outside in the last 20 months.

What action was taken at the April 24th court date?

Housing case was granted a continuance with a court date of 6/26/18.
Building permit application has been submitted for additional repairs.

This complaint goes back to August 6, 2017. They had a court date on April 24, 2018 and another court date on June 26, 2018. The original damage to this house goes back to the fire TWO years ago. I would like an update. Really I would like some action taken against this homeowner who has abused the system for far too long.

Building Permit has been approved and issued to owner.

And is there an end time on a building permit? I remain skeptical of this homeowner but will watch for progress.

I have been watching for "progress" since a building permit was approved on July 16 th. I have seen no progress on the rear addition on either side. It remains a disaster 2 months later. When does the building permit expire? When do you reinspect it?

This original complaint goes back to AUGUST 2017. Please do this neighborhood a favor and use the code regulations on the books and get this derelict hovel issue taken care of. It is a blight on a very visible corner lot in Old Town East. Status? Date real action will be taken?

Why hasn't the city done anything to condemn this property? It should not have an occupancy permit but someone is there almost every night...the back addition is open to the elements....

Jim, I know it's frustrating when you have a beautiful home and a pile of garbage in the back yard. The unfortunate reality is, the city only has a few options here. When they bring somebody into court, they can fine them, they can order them to make repairs, but that's about it. The only other option is to condemn the house, which makes it illegal for the person to occupy it. But even that doesn't get anything fixed. The city doesn't repair houses.

No, but the city issued a bldg permit and collected $$ on said permit. And now we have this dump for over 2 years. Why is the city not moving to fet it destroyed?

In terms of demolition priorities, this house is way down the list. I mean, 155 Adelle is still there, and it is way worse than this one, and has been for years. The other problem with getting this house demolished is that unless it makes the post-3rd tax sale list, the city can't get title to the house. It's easy to demolish a house you own, and for obvious reasons, very difficult to demolish a house that you don't own. Even if this owner never pays taxes again, it's 3 years from being on the post-3rd list. I doubt the city would consider demolition until then.

I'm not asking for demolition (although the cheap addition on the rear could certainly qualify since it is in total disrepair) I'm asking if action on the present code violations could be addressed and enforced.

Almost 2 years have passed since the fire that damaged this homes siding. It is summertime and way past time to have the homeowner repair the damaged, falling off siding. The neighbors would like to see some action on the exterior NOW.

The owner of 45 N Maple appears to have no concern for the neighborhood as the two abandoned water features are a health concern by breeding countless mosquitoes. Also, the owner spends many nights in this eyesore. Why is he allowed to say in this derelict structure without an occupancy permit?

Is there an occupancy permit for rhis location?

Very good question, I'd appreciate the city looking into that. He has been living there for almost 2 years.

I checked with city hall last week and there is no occupancy permit.

This complaint goes back to 8/07/2017. The first comment is by De'Carlon! What is the current status of this complaint. It is now three years worse looking. Please take some action, any action would be appreciated. We in the neighborhood are sick to death of looking at this hovel.
