Speed limits in Brooks are kept to a minimum of 50km/hr in all residential, commercial and industrial areas. However, if there is a school or park, they are designated as a School Zone (30km/hr M-F, 8am-5pm) or Playground Zone (30km/hr, M-Su, 8:30am-1 hour after sunset). Currently, the City has one designated School Zone for a preschool (at the Community Cultural Centre) but nothing specifically for a daycare. Brooks Dynamite Academy has both a preschool and a daycare on site.

The City's Sign Committee denied the request to change 2nd Avenue East and 5th Street East to 30 km/h zones. 2nd Avenue East is a wide street, with no on-street parking (parents drop off/pick up in a parking lot) and the road is also a truck route. The play area along 5th Street East is fenced, therefore, the chance of a child being located within/playing around the road are very slim. The resident was also advised that other daycares within the community are not located within 30 km/h zones. No further action required at this time.
