Well, if they want to avoid Routes 7 and 787, all the more power to them, but this intersection has never really been in good shape.

I think that if the Town/State or whoever is responsible for those streets would take care of repairing and paving them, that traffic would move more efficiently through there because traffic wouldn't be constantly weaving back and forth to avoid potholes.

Then there would be less backups which annoy the residents.

I wonder if no one is fixing this intersection because it's a classic case of the city thinks it's the state's responsibility and vice versa. I heard recently about a ramp area in Albany that didn't receive proper attention because everyone thought it was the other guy's responsibility! I wish SOMEONE would just figure this one out already if it is in fact the same deal here. I just wonder how long my suspension will hold up since I travel this intersection every day to my home on Third St. in Troy.

I think the problem here is that people coming off of or onto 787 should have DIRECT ramp access to Route 2, instead of having to get off at 23rd Street, and then drive over to 2nd Avenue, and THEN finally reach Route 2. (3 steps instead of just 1).

This causes the humungous backups at the ramps/traffic lights, and as a result, creating the horrible, disintegrating roadway we all experience there.

I don't know why 787 was never directly connected to Route 2 in the first place.

What makes me mad about this section is watervliet can spend millions of dollars on a freaking boat house but can't fix the damn road!!! SO when I get a flat tire or my suspention is all messed up shoud I just send the bill to the mayor? The road is horrible and I have to travel it twice a day to get back and forth to work.

Menands, Watervliet, and Cohoes seem to be the "forgotten trio" of cities around the Capital District as far as their streets are concerned. The streets around these areas are pretty much what I would imagine they were like 100 years ago-- nothing more than glorified dirt roads. I live in Cohoes, and have had to do thousands of dollars of suspension work to my car because of all the potholes and the poor condition of the streets there. This is absolutely unacceptable. Come on, politicians! Can we please get the most basic part of modern living (paved streets) repaired up to reasonable standards?

We live in the UNITED STATES, not ZIMBABWE!!!

FIX THE ROADS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
