Frank: I am sure you have a nice home & having dignitaries visit is lovely. There is a price for that.Unless they break it.. The City of St. Petersburg does not fix our sidewalks for us. If they fix yours I want mine fixed too! Sidewalks are the responsibility of the PROPERTY OWNER. YOU fix it!
City municode states:
ARTICLE IV. - SIDEWALKS
DIVISION 1. - GENERALLY

Secs. 25-162—25-190. - Reserved.
DIVISION 2. - CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIR Sec. 25-191. - Duty of abutting owner to maintain.
It shall be the duty of the abutting property owner to keep in repair the sidewalk abutting such owner's premises, and upon refusal or neglect to do so within 30 days after the service of written notice to repair the sidewalk, the property owner shall be guilty of maintaining a nuisance and the maintenance of such a nuisance shall be unlawful.

First, whether my home is nice or not or whether I have dignitaries or just friends coming over or not has no bearing on your remark other than rudeness. My reasoning is that I have exhausted what I can do on my end and with a looming potential accident in the making, my responsibility is to try and accelerate the system process.

Since you seem to know so much then you would know that when our walk was first put in we addressed with the City that we wanted to replace the sidewalk to the same concrete flat surface. The City advised us that the walk was to remain as is and we had no rights to make any changes to it. With that remark the City has made claim to the walk and the City can fix it. Thank you for your due diligence informing me that I'm lucky I wasn't sued. Stormy is a beloved neighbor. We had no idea, but had we known we would have had more ammunition still to have this issue resolved sooner. Upfront communication in plain daylight is key, not in the shadows. You can't have it both ways and expect change to occur to your satisfaction - that's just crazy. Trust me, we are well aware of the situation of the walk and are doing everything we can to resolve the issues. If it were left up to us, we would have ripped it up four years ago when we purchased our home - but then you obviously would have had something to say about that too. We are doing what we can and hope you will sit tight as we work within the confines of the system. We want no trouble so please, stop trying to stir things up.
