Description

I am an owner of a unit in this building, but the majority of the building tenants rent from the aforementioned Mr. Zhou. I have a number of concerns. First off there has been mold reported in the basement (unit 1005). I have seen mold in the hallway which was hastily washed off the wall, but I do not know if it remains in the unit below me. My wife suffers from asthma, and mold anywhere in the building is a major concern. I know that the renters have approached Mr. Zhou with this issue, and were told if they don't like it, they can move! This has been Mr. Zhou's response to all complaints since he and his wife took over management of the building back in the Spring.
I had an issue a few months back where I called Bridgeport PD after Mr. Zhou varnished the floor in a unit below me and then closed the windows and left for the weekend. The fumes sent my wife into a severe asthma attack. Luckily Bridgeport Police forced Mr. Zhou to open the windows (he had refused to do so when I asked) and provide cross ventilation.
Finally, I have noticed most of the workers Mr. Zhou hires to complete basic repairs in the building, appear to have no certification or licenses. They come in unmarked vehicles with out of state plates and do shoddy work without concern for the health of welfare of the occupants of the building.
I am not sure what can be done, but I hope the City can check to make sure the mold issue has been resolved, and that Atlantic Coleman/Mr. Zhou are in compliance.
I attached an image of an area just outside of where the mold was initially reported. This is in a stairwell just below my unit.
