We are at 1725 Dorset St., west side of road. Across from the big red barn.

The City does not mow these areas. It's up to the abutting property owner to mow if they choose.

The city has mowed it in the past with a flail mower. The danger is in the fact that the city created a ditch there when the Dorset Farms development happened so it is next to impossible to mow safely with a normal mower. Also we don't own that property. It is the city right of way between the road and the ditch.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of acres, of grass that the City owns between the edge of the road and the front of the abutting private property. Municipalities do not mow these areas. Whoever owns the land that abuts this area is free to mow it if they choose.

As you drive up and down Dorset you'll notice swales on each side of the street. Some property owners maintain this area right up to the road, others choose to let it be in its natural state.

Sorry that S.B. doesn't choose to this. On our way home from our camp in Norton last week we observed two different swail mowers mowing exactly this kind of situation to improve visibility.

We have seen these areas being mowed on our way to Norton, I believe in Derby and another place. Maybe it's the state doing it but it is obviously for visibility. If not for the ditch and the large amt. of traffic we would mow this but it is too dangerous. Wasn't too bad before the ditch was created and all the development occurred.
