Does this even work? The street only has roughly 30 homes, 8 people want this fixed? Equates to about 26 % know about this site and have responded. Does Upper Chichester care? I believe Jim Stewart is the commissioner of this area. Remember that he does NOT get things done in Chi.
I've lived on Mill Rd. for 15 years. This is worse now than I can ever remember. The young kids speeding almost hit my wife while I was in the front yard this weekend. It was quite a scare and the lack of consideration was amazing. The teen driven car full of friends(more passengers than seat belts) laughed and sped off!!
I feel for the younger residents that care for there home and family and have to tolerate the complete disregard from these teens. UPPER CHI, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
Holly Cow!! I logged into the paper, saw this thing about reporting issues and went to check it out. I know that street well and it's ridiculous how dangerous it is and the township ignores it. Your commissioners are terrible. What do they do anyway? Jim Stewart hopefully takes the time to see this if he is in charge of that area. Is it being forwarded to him?
I've lived in Boothwyn my entire life. The turn toward the bottom of the street is nuts, you almost can even get around is safely!!!
I too have lived on this street most of my adult life. The cars exceeding the speed limit are typically driven by teens. The worst time of the day is when the high school lets out, or weekends!! They motor down the road disregarding anyone and everyone. Can Upper Chichester please increase the patrol maybe once or twice a week? If any of the commissioners lived on this street, you bet it would of been resolved.
I can't believe a commissioner has not commented. 26 comments and not one can take a minute out of there day to chime in. Boy oh boy, these folks are no different than other politicians.
Your concerns have been forwarded to the police department. I'll be up at the township tomorrow and will speak to Chief Bush about the concerns and safety issues.
Thanks for that update, has there been any additional info to report? I'm told that we can petition the State Police to intervene. But what I'm told is that is a kick to the chops for local police. That is not what I want, but I do ask that you follow up with us.
This is what we get? Pay your taxes, pay your 1% earned income tax, and we can't even get a patrol car to pass by, issue a citation or two to avoid an accident. What is the next step. U Chichester doesn't care. Does anyone know who we should contact? The person who says that we may be able to get the State Police's help. Can you look into that and post something. I'm sure we all would be happy to call, write, or do our part. I accidentally found this on the delcotimes.com and I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person who gets aggravated when I see these people speeding. U Chi, is this the best you can do? Why do you need 1%, curve spending, fire the police dept, and resign from the positions that you don't know how to hold.
I was coming here to place something here about Mill Rd and to my surprise there is already mention of this. I'm retired and am home all day. I can't tell you the last time I saw a patrolman pass onto Mill Rd. I'm going to call Fox News today and see if that helps. Maybe we should park our vehicles in the street blocking traffic to the attention of the township.
Are you going to give us an update or are you hoping this will go away? Jim Stewart is really working for the residents that are in his local isn't he. What a guy!! Thanks Stewart.
We have had discussions with the chief to increase police activity in the area, within the parameters of normal patrolling. I would suggest if there are specific concerns that residents contact the police department directly so that the police could be made aware of specific concerns, locations, and times.
The commissioners do pay attention to these matters and address them to the appropriate parties. It would help if residents identified themselves in these matters for follow up as needed.
Thanks for address this, unlike the rest of the commissioners. You are appreciated. But can you tell us if any citations were issued? I've noticed NO change in the traffic speed. The posted speed limit is 15 mph, most vehicles minimally double that. This along with all the other comments on here are being printed and preserved so when an incident does occur, we can show that the township was aware.
I'm assuming that the nothing is going to be done about this. Finest politics at work for us here folks. Remember the issues in Upper Chichester Township get ignored. So on community day when the commissioners act as though they care, take these issues as proof that they truly do not care.
I cannot understand why both sides of traffic are allowed to proceed to go at the same time on East Bethel Ave. where it meets Larkin Road at Chichester Ave. You cannot see traffic coming over the hill from Larkin Road if you're traveling on East Bethel Ave at the traffic light here. Only one side should go at a time. Very dangerous intersection. This issue would have been corrected much sooner in Delaware or would never have been set up like this to begin with.
