Description

As the new residential colleges near completion, I have observed increased pedestrian and bike traffic crossing Winchester Ave at Sachem St.

As a pedestrian, it's a very stressful and dangerous intersection to cross. Even though there are Ped X-ing signs, vehicles are approaching from perpendicular directions, and while vehicles from one direction may stop for pedestrians, vehicles from the other may not be able to see them. I miss the stop sign that used to be at the intersection, and I strongly urge New Haven to consider either replacing the stop sign, or installing pedestrian lights so that drivers can adequately see pedestrians.

Thank you!
