Thank you to the neighbors who are mowing. Yet it truly is city property, and the city's responsibility to keep the right-of-way mowed and cleaned up. It should not take community relations to fix this. It should be scheduled by DGS on a regular basis like many other areas of city property. In some of the neighborhood's opinion the city should put down gravel or pavement between Lawnridge and Grove so that city fire equipment and DGS trucks don't have to back down these two streets when they need to proceed. They could even put in a speed bump to limit use.

Yes, it may be the responsibility of the city to mow these areas, just as it is likely that the areas between the street and the sidewalk are public property and the city's responsibility. But, most residents mow those strips. City staff is stretched enough, and has a lot of other more critical work to do without having them have to do this as well. I feel that residents should take some responsibility for their immediate environment. I also disagree strongly with paving that right-of-way. That is a pleasant walking area and a nice green space in our neighborhood. Paving it just so sanitation trucks have an easier turn-around would destroy the environment and also encourage a lot of through traffic cut-throughs on Grove, and Glendale.
