The dog owner is contesting the "Dangerous Dog" designation/restrictions given to him by Animal Control. There will be a hearing about this in Wake District Court Friday 7/23 at 2:30PM. If you enjoy walking on N. Main and would like to do it safely, you might be interested in this hearing.

The Wake Co Dept of Environmental Services upheld the "Dangerous Dog" designation against the owner's appeal. This requires the owner to maintain a secure enclosure for the dog and post a warning sign on their enslosure. It does not however require any kind of warning on the front of the property. This is still a public safety concern due to the large number of people who walk on N. Main St for recreation.

The dog owner is initiating a 2nd appeal of the Dangerous Dog ruling. This owner continues to be resistant to controlling his dangerous dog. This is a community safety issue that affects EVERYONE who walks on N. Main St. The town should be able to do more to protect one of its main attractions.

This issue has absolutely NOT been fixed. Not only is this vicious dog still present on N. Main St, but his owner is violating the dangerous dog rules by walking the dog on Main St. According to Wake Co. Animal Control this dog should not be walked on the street. It is allowed only in its secure enclosure and it's owner's house. Yet the owner has been seen walking him on the street without even a muzzle. He has even walked the dog on the street in front of the neighbor that the dog bit just over a year ago causing the dog to lunge at her. The owner is disregarding public safety restrictions and terrorizing an elderly woman. As soon as I am able to get a picture of this man walking this dangerous dog, I will be sending it to animal control. The dog is bad enough but his owner is an absolute menace!

Is this still an issue?

For the last two weeks, I have been walking on North Main Street about 4 times a week. I have not seen a black lab during my walks. What was done to stop the problem?
