Due to an emergency repair that will require the Water Department to shut down the West Street plant for an extended period from Wednesday morning into Thursday, we have increased production from our Wading River plant in Mansfield. With more production coming from the other end of the system, some discoloration from stirring in the pipes is taking place. it is not harmful, but may discolor clothing. Compounding this was an early morning main break on North Avenue. Crews are flushing hydrants in order to help alleviate the discoloration sooner, but it may still last for a couple of days. We apologize for the inconvenience and will update as more information is available.
