Description

signal staging issues at the Gratiot/Broadway/Randolph intersection. there is a 10-sec "dead" phase, which may have been previously for a dedicated left turn from Broadway to Gratiot. Now peds enter the intersection at the same time as delayed left turns, creating collision risk. Also, cars and buses make the slight right turn from Randolph to Gratiot at full speed, increasing pedestrian collision risks.

In addition to the phase issue, more ped accommodation is needed in the long crossing across Gratiot. in the long term, a traffic island might be warranted.
