Description
Witnessed this morning Yet Another cyclist cruise through without slowing down - south bound on 9th - the stop sign on 9th at Taylor, just one block from Maya Lin school.
This man looked to be in his late 50s or 60s, grey hair, grey flowing beard, with a dog on a leash in tow as he blew through the stop sign.
This isn't like a motor vehicle that comes to a rolling "California" stop at a stop sign. This is routine occurrence that cyclists at this intersection routinely run the stop signs at cruising speed without slowing down at all, posing a hazard for children, pedestrians and motorists alike.
Can we get some enforcement of motor vehicle laws for cyclists?

9th Street at Taylor is a 2-way stop. Taylor has stop signs, 9th does not. A southbound bike rider there would not have been breaking any laws.
While we're at it, though, can APD do some crack downs around town on those drivers doing rolling "California" stops, especially when making right turns on red, where they're often looking left for traffic and ignoring pedestrians entering the crosswalk on their right? Just because rolling stops are common doesn't make them legal or safe.

Robert - about 3 or 4 months ago, it became a four-way stop, with the installation of new stop signs on 9th street. You obviously haven't been through the intersection lately.
I've also seen cyclists run the stop signs on Taylor that have been there for years.
The new signs were installed at least prior to May 31 - see my previous report.

And while we're at it, let's get some enforcement on the cyclists that I routinely see playing the "look, now I'm a cyclist, now I'm a pedestrian!" game by suddenly shifting to ride through a pedestrian crosswalk without dismounting when it meets their convenience, as I routinely at this intersection and the nearby intersections at 9th and Santa Clara and 9th and Lincoln.
As for this guy this morning, after running the stop at 9th, he proceeded west on Taylor on the wrong side of the street.
