I am thrilled to hear about this! Jaywalking has become a chronic problem at this and other intersections downtown. I've seen many close calls with cars slamming their brakes because someone decided to just saunter across the street when they felt like it. I've also seen many adults with young children doing this which sets a poor example. I hope this is going to become a campaign by police -- like they did last year with the red-light runners -- and yes, I do recall there being fines for jaywalking years ago.
