DID YOU KNOW IT COSTS LESS TO JOIN A HEALTH CLUB THAN TO LET YOUR KIDS RUN THROUGH THE SPRINKLERS?!!!! KIDS CAN'T RUN THROUGH THE SPRINKLERS ANYMORE ON A HOT DAY! Brought to my attention because we seeded our yard and HAVE TO WATER or the seed will die -- GRAND STRAND WATER & SEWER AND WATER AUTHORITY DOUBLE DIPS WHEN NORMAL RESIDENTS WATER THEIR LAWNS! THEY GET PAID FOR THE EXTRA WATER USAGE AND GET PAID MORE THAN TRIPLE BECAUSE THEY CHARGE EXTRA SEWER USAGE BECAUSE SEWER USAGE IS BASED ON WATER USAGE! IT IS AN EASY FIX - THEY COULD BASE SEWER USAGE ON WINTER WATER USAGE AVERAGE (WHEN NO ONE WATERS!). PLEASE HELP US - I HAVE SPOKEN WITH MANY NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS AND NO ONE HAS EVER BOTHERED BEFORE WHEN THE ECONOMY WAS GOOD! BUT WITH TODAY'S ECONOMY, THINGS ARE TIGHT AND WE CANNOT AFFORD A UTILITY BILL THAT IS MORE THAN TRIPLED SO WRONGFULLY! CAN YOU HELP? I HAVE CONTACTED CONWAY'S ADMINISTRATOR (BILL GRAHAM) WHO IN TURN CONTACTED GSW&SA (FRED RICHARDSON) REGARDING THIS "DOUBLE DIPPING" - TO NO AVAIL. WE ARE TOLD WE CAN GET A SEPARATE METER (TO THE TUNE OF $1700.00 - NO PAYMENT PLAN PROVIDED!) WHICH IS LESS LOGICAL THAN BASING SEWER USAGE ON PRIOR / WINTER AVERAGE. I AM SURE THIS AFFECTS THOUSANDS OF HOMEOWNERS AND RESULTS IN MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WRONGFULLY OBTAINED BY GSW&SA!!!!!
THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE US!

I understand your problem. We recently purchased our house and when we started using our irrigation sytem our water bill went from $30 some dollars to $114. I contacted GrandStrand and was informed that as new owners of the residence we must replace the existing irrigation water meter. We were informed that we must have Grandstrand replace our meter at a cost of $950.00 dollars and hire a plumber hook it up to our water line. If we do not have the irrgation meter replaced we will continue pay water sewer rates for water used by the irrigation system. This is unfair since there is no waster water for treatment for water used by irrigation systems. Grandstrand has been reading the existing water meter for the previous owners for many years,
Thanks to the recent rains I have been able to cut back on watering the lawn and plants.
This appears to be Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority's policy of welcome to South Carolina and Horry County.
